Overview

The Production Items section allows you to organize and manage items used in production workflows. The interface uses three separate tabs to manage different types of production data:
  1. Catalogs: Plant varieties defined by genus, series, and color (e.g., “Petunia - Wave - Purple”)
  2. Categories: Production categories with codes, eaches counts, and space category assignments
  3. Production Items: Individual production items that reference a catalog and category

Best Practices

Catalog Management

  • Consistent naming: Use consistent genus, series, and color values
  • Unique combinations: Each catalog represents a unique plant variety
  • Status tracking: Use status field to mark active vs inactive varieties

Category Management

  • Clear codes: Use descriptive, unique category codes
  • Accurate eaches: Ensure eaches counts are correct for production planning
  • Space categories: Link categories to appropriate space category codes

Production Item Management

  • Unique item numbers: Ensure each production item has a unique identifier
  • Proper linking: Link items to the correct catalog and category
  • Regular review: Keep item list current and remove obsolete items

Common Scenarios

Scenario: Adding a New Plant Variety

  1. Go to Catalogs tab
  2. Click Add New
  3. Enter genus, series, and color (e.g., “Petunia”, “Wave”, “Purple”)
  4. Submit to create the catalog entry

Scenario: Creating Production Items for a Variety

Troubleshooting

Can’t Create Entry

Possible causes:
  • Required fields are missing
  • Duplicate entry already exists
  • Insufficient permissions
Solutions:
  • Ensure all required fields are filled (Genus, Series, Color for catalogs; Code, Eaches, Space Category Code for categories; Item Number, Catalog, Category for items)
  • Check if an identical entry already exists
  • Contact administrator if permission issues persist

Can’t Switch Tabs

Issue: Tab switching is disabled Cause: You’re in edit mode on one of the tabs Solution:
  • Click Save Changes to save your edits, or
  • Click Discard Changes to cancel
  • Tab switching will be enabled once you exit edit mode

Changes Not Saving

Possible causes:
  • Required fields are missing
  • Invalid data format (e.g., non-numeric value in Eaches field)
  • GraphQL error
Solutions:
  • Review the fields you edited and ensure they have valid values
  • Check browser console for error messages
  • Try discarding changes and re-entering the data
