What is the Material Module?

The Material module is designed for tracking raw materials and ingredients that are used in your production processes. This module helps you manage material inventory, record counts at specific locations, and receive shipments from vendor purchase orders. Material items are distinct from finished goods items (tracked in the Fulfill module) and are typically used as inputs for production processes.

Material Items Management

• Track Material Inventory: View all material items with real-time quantity tracking across locations
• Location-based Quantities: Track material quantities at locations within your site
• Count and Move Operations: Record material counts or move materials between locations
• Responsive Interface: Grid view for desktop, card view for mobile devices

Vendor Purchase Orders

• Receive Shipments: Process incoming vendor purchase orders
• Line-by-Line Receiving: Record received quantities for each order line
• Automatic Quantity Updates: System records received quantities at the site location
• Completion Status: Track which order lines are fully received vs. partially received

Module Navigation

The Material module has two main sections accessible from the navigation:

1. Material Items (/material/items) - View and manage material items and their location quantities
2. Purchase Orders (/material/orders) - Process vendor purchase orders and receive shipments

Material vs. Finished Goods

Material Items:

• Raw materials, ingredients, components
• Tracked at locations within your site
• Received from vendor purchase orders
• Used as inputs for production

Finished Goods Items (Fulfill module):

• Completed products ready for sale
• Tracked with availability sessions
• Sold to customers via orders
• Created as outputs from production

Common Workflows

Receiving Material from a Vendor

1. Navigate to Purchase Orders in the Material module
2. Select the vendor purchase order to receive
3. For each order line, enter the quantity received
4. Submit to record the shipment (materials are received to the site location)
5. Use Material Items to move materials to specific storage locations if needed

Counting Material Inventory

1. Navigate to Material Items
2. Select the material item you want to count
3. Choose a location (or select a new location to add)
4. Enter the counted quantity
5. Select a reason code
6. Submit to record the count

Moving Material Between Locations

1. Navigate to Material Items
2. Select the material item you want to move
3. In the location quantities view, select the current location
4. Choose a new destination location
5. Enter the quantity to move
6. Select a reason code
7. Submit to record the movement

User Roles

The Material module is typically used by:

• Warehouse Staff: Receiving shipments, counting inventory, moving materials
• Production Managers: Monitoring material availability for production runs
• Purchasing: Tracking vendor purchase order receipts
